What is Office SIP?

Office SIP is simply a connection to the outside Internet that allows your phone system to interface with the telephone network (PSTN). It is a way of allowing a business to extend the life of a legacy phone system, or fully take advantage of the cost savings and benefits for an IP PBX.

What are the advantages of Office SIP versus a PRI?

Office SIP's primary benefit over PRI's and local business lines are typically cost savings while maintaining reliability. Office SIP allows companies to garner better efficiencies out of their telecommunications infrastructure, by combining voice and data service together. Office SIP can be purchased in increments of one and can be turned up quicker than a regular phone line or PRI. PRIs are purchased in units of 24 and has a long lead time to activate the service.

When should I use G3 Office SIP instead of the G3 Office?

Office SIP should be used, when based upon business needs, an on premise system is the preferred solution. G3 Office SIP can also be used when the current phone system does not need to be replaced. G3 Office should be considered when the current phone system needs to be replaced and it is not desirable to make the upfront payment for a new phone system. A premise based IP PBX and G3 Office SIP can provide many of the features of G3 Office hosted phone system.

What equipment do I need to be able to use G3 Office SIP?

Office SIP requires an IP PBX or a gateway connected to a legacy phone system.

Will I need more Internet bandwidth when I use Office SIP?

G3 Office SIP is a virtual circuit delivered over an Internet connection. Depending on the number of Office SIP channels that you purchase, more Internet bandwidth may be required. A general rule of thumb is to allocate 100K of bandwidth for each Office SIP that you purchase.
